According to BCG, one-third of companies in all sectors plan to spend <strong data-start=\"368\" data-end=\"417\">more than $25 million on AI by 2025<\/strong>. <\/p><p data-start=\"422\" data-end=\"608\">But this acceleration comes at a cost. Several executives and CSR managers warn that generative AI consumes a lot of energy. As one manager pointed out:  <\/p><blockquote data-start=\"609\" data-end=\"713\"><p data-start=\"611\" data-end=\"713\">&#8220;We&#8217;re blowing away the counters in terms of productivity, but we&#8217;re missing out on our CSR commitments.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote><p data-start=\"715\" data-end=\"823\">AI is forcing companies to arbitrate between <strong data-start=\"762\" data-end=\"787\">immediate performance<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"791\" data-end=\"820\">long-term responsibility<\/strong>.<\/p><h2 data-start=\"830\" data-end=\"889\"> <\/h2><h2 data-start=\"830\" data-end=\"889\">Fragmented governance and the fantasy of decision-making AI<\/h2><p data-start=\"890\" data-end=\"982\">In some structures, AI has been deployed in a climate of chronic misalignment:<\/p><ul data-start=\"983\" data-end=\"1073\"><li data-start=\"983\" data-end=\"1009\"><p data-start=\"985\" data-end=\"1009\">IT tests tools,<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"1010\" data-end=\"1034\"><p data-start=\"1012\" data-end=\"1034\">HR is against it,<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"1035\" data-end=\"1073\"><p data-start=\"1037\" data-end=\"1073\">Comexes observe without deciding.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p data-start=\"1075\" data-end=\"1197\">Far from bringing the hoped-for agility, AI reveals a <strong data-start=\"1129\" data-end=\"1152\">fragmented governance<\/strong> where no one holds the central compass.<\/p><p data-start=\"1199\" data-end=\"1512\">An emblematic case illustrates this paradox: in 2022, the Chinese company <strong data-start=\"1271\" data-end=\"1292\">NetDragon Websoft<\/strong> appointed an AI, Tang Yu, to head up one of its subsidiaries. Officially tasked with streamlining processes, this virtual CEO poses a dizzying question: marketing gimmick or foretaste of a possible future? <\/p><p data-start=\"1514\" data-end=\"1713\">This case highlights a fundamental tension: while some fantasize about <strong data-start=\"1591\" data-end=\"1615\">100% AI governance<\/strong>, many companies are still struggling to align their business departments around a shared vision.<\/p><h2 data-start=\"1720\" data-end=\"1765\"> <\/h2><h2 data-start=\"1720\" data-end=\"1765\">Different levels of maturity in different sectors<\/h2><p data-start=\"1766\" data-end=\"1807\">AI adoption is not uniform:<\/p><ul data-start=\"1808\" data-end=\"2071\"><li data-start=\"1808\" data-end=\"1905\"><p data-start=\"1810\" data-end=\"1905\"><strong data-start=\"1810\" data-end=\"1836\">Retail, banking and tech<\/strong>: strategic vision, industrialized use cases, dedicated teams.<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"1906\" data-end=\"2071\"><p data-start=\"1908\" data-end=\"2071\"><strong data-start=\"1908\" data-end=\"1948\">Heavy industry and public services<\/strong>: slower adoption, hampered by structural rigidities, a lack of acculturation or restrictive standards.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p data-start=\"2073\" data-end=\"2101\">AI is not neutral:<\/p><ul data-start=\"2102\" data-end=\"2225\"><li data-start=\"2102\" data-end=\"2172\"><p data-start=\"2104\" data-end=\"2172\">for some, it represents <strong data-start=\"2124\" data-end=\"2155\">operational optimization<\/strong>,<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"2173\" data-end=\"2225\"><p data-start=\"2175\" data-end=\"2225\">a <strong data-start=\"2179\" data-end=\"2208\">cultural transformation<\/strong> for others.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p data-start=\"2227\" data-end=\"2367\">It therefore needs to be tailored to <strong data-start=\"2266\" data-end=\"2297\">each company&#8217;s culture<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"2302\" data-end=\"2330\">business model<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"2337\" data-end=\"2364\">sector-specific rhythm<\/strong>.<\/p><h2 data-start=\"2374\" data-end=\"2412\"> <\/h2><h2 data-start=\"2374\" data-end=\"2412\">AI imposes a vision of progress<\/h2><p data-start=\"2413\" data-end=\"2538\">AI cannot be approached as just another piece of software to be implemented. It forces every organization to clarify : <\/p><ul data-start=\"2539\" data-end=\"2640\"><li data-start=\"2539\" data-end=\"2568\"><p data-start=\"2541\" data-end=\"2568\">his <strong data-start=\"2544\" data-end=\"2565\">vision of progress<\/strong>,<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"2569\" data-end=\"2589\"><p data-start=\"2571\" data-end=\"2589\"><strong data-start=\"2575\" data-end=\"2586\">values<\/strong>,<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"2590\" data-end=\"2640\"><p data-start=\"2592\" data-end=\"2640\">and <strong data-start=\"2598\" data-end=\"2637\">consistency between words and deeds<\/strong>.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p data-start=\"2642\" data-end=\"2775\">The challenge is not only technological, but also <strong data-start=\"2693\" data-end=\"2717\">societal and cultural<\/strong>: AI is challenging the very mission of the enterprise.<\/p><h2 data-start=\"2782\" data-end=\"2830\"> <\/h2><h2 data-start=\"2782\" data-end=\"2830\">Conclusion: between performance and coherence<\/h2><p data-start=\"2831\" data-end=\"2921\">Artificial intelligence is not a miracle cure. It acts as a revealer: <\/p><ul data-start=\"2922\" data-end=\"3083\"><li data-start=\"2922\" data-end=\"2952\"><p data-start=\"2924\" data-end=\"2952\">of fragmented governance,<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"2953\" data-end=\"2983\"><p data-start=\"2955\" data-end=\"2983\">cultural divides,<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"2984\" data-end=\"3083\"><p data-start=\"2986\" data-end=\"3083\">and strategic dilemmas between <strong data-start=\"3021\" data-end=\"3045\">immediate efficiency<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"3049\" data-end=\"3080\">long-term responsibility<\/strong>.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><h4 data-start=\"3085\" data-end=\"3274\"> <\/h4><h4 data-start=\"3085\" data-end=\"3274\">To take advantage of AI, companies need to move beyond technological fantasy and set out a <strong data-start=\"3186\" data-end=\"3206\">coherent vision<\/strong> that integrates performance, governance and societal
